CONSTRUCTION - GIZRI FLYOVER

The main Gizri Bazaar was a sore point for traffic congestion and heavy jams due to all types of vehicles parked on the main Gizri road in front of the shops.

To ease the DHA residents, DHA undertook the mega project of construction of Gizri Flyover. The Flyover will facilitate the flow of traffic coming into and moving out of DHA through Gizri commercial area.

The design of Gizri Flyover caters for a single pier shaft so that maximum space is available under the bridge for parking and traffic taking U turns. The design caters for maximum overhead clearance under the bridge. The central median New Jersey barrier will separate traffic going in opposite directions. The Gizri Flyover will be 1.2 kilo-meters long and 15 meters wide. The flyover consists of two lanes on each being 3.5 meters wide in size. The vertical clearance under flyover is be 5.1 meters.

The project hit by various snags due to resistance of neighborhood residential area, suspension due to court case, redesigning and alteration due to restriction and mitigation measures indicated by SEPA.

DHA being a responsible organization always remain committed to the abide the laws of land, acted promptly on the advice and instructions of all regulatory authorities including Honorable court. Beside delays due to aforesaid issues, the flyover was opened for traffic on 14th Jan 2010 soon after the clearance of Honourable court. Road construction work was started with meticulous methodology of Day/Night work ensuring minimum problem to by passers by keeping a lane open on either side under the bridge.
During construction of road it was revealed that water supply line and sewerage lines are leaking at numerous places. Though the responsibility of maintenance and replacement of these lines rest with CDGK but DHA decided in the greater interest of public to provide funding for complete replacement of sewerage and water supply line due to pacing of funds at CDGK. The replacement work was entrusted to CDGK who undertook the task with great zeal and in harmony of other construction activities. Very soon Gizri Market area will have a new look and a source of comfort to all residents of DHA.
