phase viii - upcoming projects

ROADS

  • Kh-e-Amir Khusro & Kh-e-Tariq
    • These roads are located in Phase-VI of DHA; however, with regards to development these 2x roads are included in the infrastructure dev works of Phase-VIII.
    • Work on these 2x roads have been delayed for 2x years as electric poles located in the centre of the roads required to be shifted to accommodate storm water drain. In order to break the impasse a comprehensive survey was carried out to ascertain the possibility of a surface flow also incorporating gate levels of adjacent houses. The survey report indicated that surface flow was possible due to availability of sufficient natural slope.
    • Finally it has been decided to start the road works and storm water to be disposed off by natural flow through kerb and gutter arrangement.
    • Work on these roads is expected to start by Aug 2009.
  • Saba Avenue
Asphalt Base has been completed on this road between Kh-e- Ittehad & Kh-e- Iqbal. However, competent Authority has desired to make this complete road accessible to traffic so that commuters can travel upto Beach Avenue with ease and conveyance on this 100 ft wide major artery.
  • Zulfiqar Streets
    • Zulfiqar Streets were previously under the contract for infrastructure development of Sec A by a Chinese company by the name of M/s China Geo Company. However, due to some constraints the contractor could not undertake the work on these roads.
    • Therefore work on these streets in being separately tendered and is expected to start by Aug 2009.

EARTH filling in phase-VIIi

  • Road in Phase-VIII has been raised to provide sufficient slope for storm water drains into adjacent creek by gravity flow.
  • However raised embankments are susceptible to damages by heavy rainfall. To reinforce the raised embankments, earth-filling with hard soil is to be done. This will serve as a multipurpose project which will also cater for the filling of adjacent plots which have been lowered due to raised embankments of the roads.

ELECTRIFICATION WORKS

  • Street Lights in Sector A
Since Streets in Sec A has been almost 95 per cent carpeted therefore Street Lights have to be installed within Sector A Streets and along Major Roads in Sector A. Estimated cost of the work is almost 200 Million. The work is to be under taken in current Financial Year i.e. 2009-2010.
  • Electrification of Sector B
    • This work includes laying of 11 KV electric distribution cable in Sector B of Phase-VIII.
    • Since Sec B is to be opened for construction by Dec 2009, therefore, electrification of Sec B is to be undertaken on top most priority.
