The Governing Body of DHA Focuses on Development Projects During Annual Meeting


The Governing Body of DHA Karachi held its annual meeting on November 05, 2007 at Headquarters 5 Corps to review the progress of on going development works in DHA and to approve the projects for next year. Administrator DHA informed the Governing Body that a new drainage system in DHA Phases 5 and 6 was being designed besides a master plan for the entire DHA. He said that Rs. 750 million were to be spent on the project in the first phase during the current fiscal year and added that the construction work on 24 hours basis would commence soon.

Secretary Defence Mr. Kamran Rasool, who is also the Chairman of Governing Body DHA, directed Defence Housing Authority to take all possible steps to ensure that first phase of the work is completed before the next monsoon season so that DHA residents do not encounter difficulties as during the last rains.

The Governing Body was informed that DHA’s Cogeneration Power and Desalination project was ready for commissioning and the power and water distribution arrangements were being given final touches. The project would give 3 MGD desalinated potable water and 84 Mega Watt electricity.
The Governing Body also reviewed other major development works including Gizri fly over, parking plazas in Zamzama and Delton Commercial areas and Comm Avenue Ph-IV and emphasized upon the need for timely completion.
