A New Record Budget Allocation of Rs. 4 billion for the Development Projects

A special meeting of DHA’s Executive Board was held on August 02, 2007 in Headquarters 5 Corps to approve the development budget of the Housing Authority for the fiscal year 2007-2008.

The meeting chaired by Commander 5 Corps and President Executive Board DHA Lt. Gen Ahsan Azhar Hayat also approved a development strategy for DHA to ensure speedy and substantial infrastructure and services development in various phases of the Housing Authority.

Director Finance DHA said that a record amount of Rs. 4 billion has been earmarked in the budget for undertaking intense multi faceted development works which included Creek City and Waterfront developments, refurbishment of old phases of DHA and construction of parking plazas/flyovers. This would be in addition to the ongoing development of infrastructure and services needed for phase VIII development.

Director Development DHA delineated the details of the development works which included the already initiated work of Gizri Flyover, Parking Plazas in Zamzama and Stadium (Delton) Commercial areas and revamping of storm water drainage in Commercial Ave DHA Ph-IV.

The Corps Commander asked DHA to ensure transparency and speedy completion of the projects by ensuring versatile monitoring and supervision of the works. He also directed the Housing Authority to expedite the work of waterfront development project without any further delay. The Executive Board also approved the updating and review of the master plan of Phase-VIII as per the contemporary trends. The revised master plan will ensure improvement in traffic-ability, better town planning and creation of additional amenity spaces for public utility.

The Board also approved the proposal to introduce the concept of Cul-de-Sac in phase VIII town planning. The Corps Commander appreciated the efforts of DHA Town Planning Directorate and said that the modern Cul-de-Sac concept would greatly help in improving the traffic-ability and security aspects of the area.

The project director delineated the details of the ongoing fast track infrastructure development works in DHA phase VIII. He said that the structured and integrated development works on completion would bring a new era of prosperity and progress in the area.

The Executive Board also stressed the need for capacity building of Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) so that the municipal body could take over complete operational and maintenance functions of the developed phases of DHA.

Administrator DHA Brig Kamran Aziz Qazi briefed the meeting about the progress of the ongoing DHA mega projects. He also enumerated the highlights of the DHA Budget for current fiscal year.
