Establishment of Free Medical Camps in Katchi Abadis - DHA
Karachi, Jan 06: DHA has launched
a month long programme of setting up Medical Camps in various Katchi Abadis
located in adjoining DHA / Clifton areas for provision of free medical
treatment, medicines and diagnostic services for the residents of these
areas. Free vaccination / inoculation is also being carried out.
DHA took the erstwhile initiative on the special instructions of Commander
5 Corps Lt Gen Zahirul Islam as a welfare measure for the poor / lower
income class inhabitants of Katchi Abadis. The campaign started in Mid
December’ 2011 and Medical Camps have already been setup at Hazara
Colony, Pak Jamhoria Colony (Kala Pul), Neelum Colony, Shah Rasool Colony,
Akhtar Colony and Kashmir Colony etc. More Medical Camps are being setup
at Dehli Colony, Punjab Colony and Qayyumabad areas shortly.
Incharge Medical Camps, Dr Sheema Ather said that a large number of
patients including women and children from the adjoining areas mostly
suffering from common ailments like diabetes, hypertension, asthma, skin
diseases, gastro enteritis, respiratory infections, skin diseases and
chronic illnesses etc turned up at the Medical Camps. They were given
all types of medicines including antibiotics, pain killers, anti allergic,
multivitamins, skin ointments and inhalers etc free of cost. Free Eye
testing facility was also provided at the camps.
Vaccination through Expanded Programme of Immunization (EPI) was also
conducted. Sindh Lab established their investigations setup at the site
where blood tests for hemoglobin, random blood sugar, random cholesterol,
Hep B and Hep C were conducted free of cost. The nutrition state of the
children and women of these localities was found to be abysmally poor.
Administrator DHA, Brig Aamer Raza Qureshi said that DHA was determined
to better the lot of the poor / down-trodden people from Katchi Abadis
as its social obligation. He reiterated that DHA was a forward looking
and dynamic organization and would continue to take all out measures for
the welfare and well being of people of less privileged class.
