Karachi, Oct 22: Defence Authority Marina Club located in DHA Phase-VIII, over looking the unfathomable Arabian Sea organizes exciting water sports events to promote fascinating marine activities in the country. Angling Competition 2018, which is fishing in sea with rods and reels on boat, was held at DA Marina Club in which male and female competitors participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. The anglers sailed to open sea, and brought back handful of different fishes species, which included Tuna, Grouper, Drado and Amber Jacket.
The excited anglers had adequate knowledge of sea survival and used sea worthy boats having communication facilities with complete survival and safety equipment on board. The anglers started off their exciting and memorable two days journey (19-20 Oct, 2018) carrying the national flags after midnight and used rods, reels and baits etc for fishing and enjoyed the adventurous activity.
A lot of excitement, competitive spirit and enthusiasm was displayed by the club and non club members who participated in the angling event. It was an event full of fun, action and adventure which was thoroughly enjoyed by the participants.
Administrator DHA Brig Ibrar Hussain Bhatti appreciated the relentless efforts of the club and its staff in organizing a wonderful water sports event with great precision and success. He said such exciting marine sports are lively activities which help in promoting healthy and positive trends in society.
A prize Distribution Ceremony followed by a sumptuous dinner was held in the serene and exhilarating environment of the club which was attended by a large number of members. Winner of this competition Mr Bilal Shahid Anwar who caught a 48 Kgs Tuna received a prize of Rs 300,000/-. Runner-up Mr Aamir Basrai received Rs 200,000/- for catching a Tuna of 35 Kgs. Many consolation prizes were also given on the occasion.
